Professor Abd-Elhafiz Shehab-Eldien is the chief of neurosurgery department, El-Sahil Teaching Hospital (GOTHI), Cairo, Egypt. He gets MBBCH degree from Tanta University, 1980; Master degree, 1987; MD degree in neurosurgery, Cairo University: 1995. He shared in planning and spreading of neurosurgical services in Egypt through the construction of new neurosurgery centers in the ministry of health (Mansoura: MISH / Tanta: Elmenshawy Hospital / Elsewiss Hospital / Wady Elnatron Hospital), providing supervision and adequate training for the staff.

Professor Shehab-Eldien started cranial, skull base and spinal endoscopic procedures 1993 through cadaveric work. He designed and developed different simulation models for Endoscopy Lab training, in addition to animal models. He has special interests in various Spinal approaches, especially anterior, high grade spondylolisthesis, Craniocervical junction surgeries and the different applications of Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring. He shared in designing and developing Electronic Medical Record systems for patient filling. Research methodology training, complication avoidance, stereotactic surgery, neural mapping & navigation.

Professor Shehab-Eldien is the administrator of the scientific board of the Egyptian Fellowship of Neurosurgery since 2001, Head of the association of scientists in Elashil Teaching Hospital, member of the ESNS board. The head of the spine section in CAANS. He is a member of the Supreme Committee for Academic Medical Specialties in the ministry of Health. He gets an honorary life membership in Neuro Spinal Surgeon Association (NSSA) India, 2015. He is the vice president of the Mediterranean Association of Neurological Surgeons (MANS), and shared in its foundation. He is the past President of the Middle East Spine Society.
